Diana, Princess of Wales (1/7/61 – 31/08/1997)

“I see myself as a huge fiery comet, a shooting star. Everyone stops, points up and gasps “Oh look at that!” Then — whoosh, and I’m gone … and they’ll never see anything like it ever again. And they won’t be able to forget me — ever.”
— Jim Morrison, The Doors 1943-1971

FFF pays tribute to our favourite Princess — Diana — on the anniversary of her death. Diana passed on 31 August 1997, at 36 years of age.

Whilst she bestowed much magic and promise during her short stay on earth, we wonder what she might be like now and who she might have become had she lived to 49, as she would have been today.

We have a sad and poignant suspicion her most influential and important days were ahead of her, but we celebrate the incandescent spell she cast on an enraptured world, and like to think she may have been appointed as Guardian Angel to all who need strength, love and light in their lives.

RIP Diana, we miss you x

I firmly believe that Diana was too beautiful to see the horror that unfolded in this world in the 21st century. I mean, after the joy and celebration of the Sydney Olympics, we suffered some global horror. Just last month I put flowers down at Bali. Because of Diana's legacy, we are able to centre back on something of beauty and inspiration and find solace and even understanding.

Her love for her children, her love of good frocks and a pair of heels, the fact that her husband never appreciated her makes her almost my best friend - and probably yours too. I regret we never got to have a good natter of a bottle or two of New Zealand white. I wonder if she ever snuck a fag?

Heaven isn't so scary when you know that gorgeous people like Diana (and Audrey, and Frank, and Heath) are there already.
