Healthy hard shell choc topping

We are big fans of the wonderful health benefits of coconut oil — from cooking to make-up remover to moisturiser — this hard nut does it all.
In the past, we’ve also been partial to the hard chocolate topped ice cream generally reserved for a trip to the movies. You know the one … freezes into a crisp shell once it hits the cold surface of your favourite ice cream. As you may have guessed, that stuff is laden with trans and hydrogenated fats, chemicals and processed sugars. What to do?
Avoid the crap and make your own simple, yummy version utilising the magic that is coconut oil. Your thighs and your kids will thank you!
FFF-ing Fabulous Hard Shell Choc Topping
- 3 tablespoons organic virgin coconut oil
- 3 tablespoons organic cacao powder (or unsweetened cocoa powder)
- 1 teaspoon rice malt or pure maple syrup, or to your taste
Put all the ingredients in a saucepan and heat until the coconut oil turns to liquid. Stir until well combined and pour over your favourite ice cream.
