FFF Friday Flashback: GAP

Who doesn’t turn to GAP for those basic, timeless separates - tees, shirting, soft tailoring and denim? Well… according to recent reports, not quite as many as GAP would like. The all-American basics brand has experienced a sharp downturn in sales recently.

Luckily their advertising is still fabulous! Check out some of our fave print ads, and our favourite TV campaign (circa 2004 baby) featuring Lenny Kravitz and multiple SJP’s rocking it out in GAP denim.

Happy Friday FFFs!

FFF Friday Flashback: Deborah Harry

Back in the late 70s and early 80s, Deborah Harry — the front woman of otherwise all male band Blondie — was officially the coolest woman in rock. With her two-tone bleached-blonde hair, perfect cupid pout, stunning face and nonchalant attitude she was one of the boys, but oh so sexy … a killer combo in any language. Part of the New York New Wave scene and the infamous Studio 54 brigade, Andy Warhol captured Harry for one of his most famous Pop Art Portraits. When it came to Debbie Harry the old cliché rang true … girls wanted to be her, and men wanted to be with her.

Oh … and she could belt out a song too.

FFF Friday Flashback: Madonna

Long before she was Her Madgesty, she was just Madonna. Although this one woman hit making pop culture mega force has never been ‘just’ anything. She is part of the vernacular, she defined underwear as outerwear, took crucifixes out of the Vatican, has redefined the body shape of 50 year old women, and has spanned decades as a spectacular chameleon of pop with a hard head for business. She is — quite literally — a force of nature. While Lady Gaga might be the first real contender for her glittering crown, there is no-one quite like Madonna. And that’s why we love her!

Let’s take a trip back to when it all started to heat up for Madge…
