Quick Bites: YSL launch, Gwyneth, Blake Lively's tipple of choice & the Polaroid collection

Thursday night’s YSL “Belle d’Opium” fragrance launch in NYC saw a myriad of dress codes. Our faves?  Maggie Gyllenhaal in strapless magenta and Ashley Olsen in a trenchcoat and headscarf. YSL not? huffpost

Need some inspiration of the cocktail variety? Take a peek into the star’s cocktail shakers and find out their tipple of choice. We love Blake Lively’s and Nicole Richie’s choice of a Chocolate-Spiked Mint Julep. Chin Chin! instyle

Gwyneth Paltrow made a fleeting appearance at Ralph Lauren’s Wimbledon Party at his Bond Street store this weekend in a Stella McCartney dress, which Vanity Fair’s Elizabeth Saltzman informed us was originally intended for the Iron Man premiere in London but, owing to the ash cloud, had remained unworn until last night. “I loved the ash cloud,” Saltzman said, “It reminded us that we really are very, very small and insignificant. It didn’t matter who you were, or whether you had a private jet, no-one was flying. Tamara Mellon was stuck in New York for her daughter’s birthday and there was nothing to be done about it.” vogue.uk

Polaroid is pretty much synonymous with Andy Warhol, but he is just one of the fashion-friendly artists whose work is featured in Photographs from the Polaroid Collection, a preview of the upcoming sale at Sotheby’s. Snapshots by David Bailey, Guy Bourdain, Robert Mapplethorpe, Peter Beard, Helmut Newton, Deborah Turbeville, Lorna Simpson and Robert Heinecken are among the snapshots. wwd

Gwyneth and the good GOOP

We have a super-sized crush on Gwyneth Paltrow and her online alter ego GOOP. In fact, we would consider her one of our new culinary heroines.

We especially love her quick roast chicken and potatoes with salad. The maple syrup dressing is a hit with non-salad-eating mini-fatales, and watching an Oscar-winning-former-vegan deftly dissect a chicken at warp speed with a tea towel thrown oh-so-chicly over her shoulder is enough to make us think Gwyn is one of us.

Gwyneth has copped a bit of flak over her site, but quite frankly we won’t hear it. She has pulled together an entertaining mix of food, lifestyle, fashion and travel tidbits we adore reading.

We salute you Mrs Martin, keep the good GOOP coming.
